Jr. Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Junior Backend Engineer to work on production backend systems built using JavaScript (Node.js) and Python. As part of the etiS engineering team, you will contribute across APIs, background workers, and platform integrations, while building strong fundamentals in backend engineering and infrastructure-aware development.

etiS backend systems power multiple enterprise products and integrate deeply with third-party platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud. Our backend stack handles APIs, ingestion pipelines, background workers, notifications, and scheduled processes.

Correctness, reliability, and observability are core expectations. 

Key Responsibility

• Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js and Python.

• Implement and consume REST APIs used by frontend applications.

• Work with relational databases (primarily PostgreSQL), including schema usage and queries.

• Contribute to background jobs, workers, and scheduled tasks.

• Integrate with third-party APIs and external services.

• Use Redis for caching, queues, or coordination where applicable.

• Follow established patterns for logging, configuration, and error handling.

• Assist in deployment, monitoring, and basic production troubleshooting.

Requirements

• 0–3 years of backend development experience (freshers welcome).

• Exposure to both JavaScript and Python is mandatory 
  (advanced proficiency in one is acceptable).

• Solid understanding of REST APIs and HTTP fundamentals.

• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL (mandatory).

• Basic familiarity with Redis concepts.

• Exposure to Linux-based environments.

• Willingness to work within existing architectural constraints.

Good to Have

• Experience with Express.js or similar frameworks.

• Exposure to containerization (Docker).

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.

• Exposure to backend deployment practices, such as: 
     Running services on cloud instances 
     Environment configuration and secrets management 
     Basic monitoring and logging concepts

• Basic understanding of system monitoring or logging.

• Interest in backend scalability and reliability concepts.
