Job Description – Playwright Automation Engineer

Location: Pune

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Playwright Automation Engineer with experience in Industrial HMI (Human Machine Interface) applications. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in UI automation using Playwright and hands-on experience testing industrial software, SCADA, HMI, or automation products. The role involves developing robust automation frameworks, validating HMI workflows, and ensuring high-quality software releases.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain UI automation frameworks using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript).
• Automate regression, functional, smoke, sanity, and end-to-end test scenarios.
• Validate Industrial HMI applications for functionality, usability, and performance.
• Work closely with developers, product owners, and system engineers to understand application functionality.
• Design reusable automation libraries and utilities.
• Execute automated test suites and analyze failures.
• Report and track defects using defect management tools.
• Integrate automation suites with CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in requirement reviews and provide test estimations.
• Prepare automation reports and quality metrics.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of test processes and automation coverage.

Required Skills

• 3–9 years of software testing experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright Automation.
• Proficiency in TypeScript or JavaScript.
• Experience with API testing (REST APIs).
• Experience with Git and version control.
• Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Experience with test reporting tools.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Industrial Domain Experience

• Experience testing Industrial HMI applications.
• Knowledge of Industrial Automation concepts.
• Understanding of SCADA/HMI architecture.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as:
  • OPC UA
  • Modbus
  • Ethernet/IP
  • Profinet
• Experience validating alarms, trends, dashboards, data visualization, and operator workflows.
• Understanding of PLC-HMI interactions is preferred.

Good to Have

• Experience with Electron desktop applications.
• Performance testing exposure.
• Docker knowledge.
• SQL database testing.
• Python scripting.
• Experience in Manufacturing, Energy, Automotive, or Process Automation domains.

Education

• BE/B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical, or related disciplines.
