Frontend Engineering Intern (React)

Ainyx

Bengaluru
Internship
0-3 Years experience

Description

We're looking for a Frontend Engineering Intern who is strong in UI engineering, problem-solving, and product thinking, and who enjoys learning tools and systems from first principles. This role is ideal for someone who likes to understand why interfaces behave the way they do (state, rendering, performance, UX), not just how to build screens.

You'll work closely with senior engineers on real product surfaces—building components that ship, improving UI reliability, and learning how modern frontends are designed, built, and operated.

What You'll Work On

  • Designing and implementing responsive UI features in React
  • Building clean, reusable component systems and layouts
  • Implementing state management patterns (local + global) and predictable UI behavior
  • Integrating frontend with APIs (data fetching, caching, loading/error handling)
  • Debugging tricky UI issues (rendering, layout bugs, interaction edge cases)
  • Reading and improving existing codebases (refactors, cleanup, consistency)
  • (Optional/Bonus) Performance tuning (bundle size, memoization, virtualization)

What We're Looking For

  • Strong coding fundamentals in JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Solid understanding of React basics (components, hooks, state, props, events)
  • Good reasoning and problem-solving ability; can break ambiguous UI problems into steps
  • Comfortable building UIs that are responsive and handle real-world edge cases
  • Ability to explain decisions clearly (in writing and verbally)
  • Curious mindset: willing to read docs, experiment, and learn unfamiliar tooling

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • TypeScript experience (or strong willingness to learn)
  • Familiarity with modern frontend tooling: Vite, ESLint, Prettier
  • Experience with UI libraries / design systems (shadcn/ui, MUI, Chakra, Tailwind)
  • Data fetching libraries (TanStack Query, SWR)
  • State managers (Zustand, Redux, Jotai)
  • Basic understanding of accessibility (keyboard navigation, semantic HTML)
  • Side projects, open-source contributions, or prior internships

What You'll Gain

  • Hands-on experience working on production-grade UI
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers
  • Strong foundations in frontend architecture, state management, and debugging
  • Exposure to modern product engineering workflows (reviews, CI, quality gates)
  • Paid internship with a stipend (amount based on performance).
  • Opportunity to grow into a full-time role based on performance

Who Should Apply

If you enjoy building thoughtful user interfaces, thinking deeply about UI behavior, and shipping real features—not just mockups—this role is for you, even if you don't check every box.
