Software Engineering Intern - Backend

Ainyx

Bengaluru
Internship
0-3 Years experience

Description

We're looking for a software engineering intern who is strong in coding, problem-solving, and reasoning—and who enjoys learning new tools and systems from first principles. This role is ideal for someone who likes to understand why things work, not just how.

You'll work closely with senior engineers on real production systems—writing code that ships, debugging real issues, and learning how modern software systems are built and operated.

What You'll Work On

  • Designing and implementing backend features and services
  • Writing clean, well-structured, and testable code
  • Debugging complex issues and reasoning through system behavior
  • Reading and understanding existing codebases and improving them
  • Learning new tools, frameworks, and infrastructure as needed
  • (Optional/Bonus) Exposure to cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, or distributed systems

What We're Looking For

  • Strong coding fundamentals (any language is fine: Go, Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, etc.)
  • Excellent reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable breaking down ambiguous problems into clear steps
  • Curious mindset and willingness to learn unfamiliar tools and concepts
  • Ability to explain your thinking clearly (in writing and verbally)
  • Not afraid to read docs, experiment, and figure things out independently

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
  • Familiarity with Linux, Docker, or Kubernetes
  • Experience with backend systems, APIs, or databases
  • Prior internship, open-source contributions, or side projects

What You'll Gain

  • Hands-on experience working on real production systems
  • Mentorship from experienced engineers
  • Strong foundations in system design, debugging, and engineering thinking
  • Exposure to modern cloud and infrastructure tooling (if interested)
  • Paid internship with a stipend (amount based on performance)
  • Opportunity to grow into a full-time role based on performance

Who Should Apply

If you enjoy thinking deeply about problems, writing code that actually runs in production, and learning new systems quickly, this role is for you—even if you don't check every box.
