1. Job Purpose

To perform laboratory testing, quality control, formulation trials, and product development activities for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products, ensuring that products meet defined quality standards and applicable IS standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Quality Control & Laboratory Testing

·         Conduct testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products as per approved testing procedures and specifications.

·         Perform routine laboratory tests related to dry mix products, cement-based materials, and aggregates.

·         Record and maintain accurate test results, laboratory reports, and quality records.

·         Identify deviations from specified quality parameters and report them to the concerned department.

B. Product Development & Formulation

·         Support formulation trials and development of new dry mix products.

·         Conduct laboratory trials and evaluate product performance against defined specifications.

·         Support optimization of existing formulations for quality, performance, and cost effectiveness.

·         Coordinate with Production and R&D/Quality teams during product trials and modifications.

C. Quality Issue Investigation

·         Assist in investigating quality complaints, process deviations, and product performance issues.

·         Conduct necessary testing and support root cause analysis.

·         Recommend corrective and preventive actions in coordination with the concerned team.

·         Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions.

D. Laboratory Management

·         Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, testing materials, and laboratory housekeeping.

·         Ensure timely calibration and verification of laboratory equipment.

·         Maintain proper records of calibration, testing, samples, and consumables.

·         Ensure proper identification, storage, and handling of laboratory samples and chemicals.

E. Standards, Safety & Compliance

·         Ensure testing and quality control activities are carried out as per applicable IS Standards, Company specifications, and approved procedures.

·         Follow laboratory safety procedures and use appropriate PPE while conducting tests.

·         Maintain safe handling, storage, and disposal practices for chemicals and laboratory materials.

·         Immediately report any safety incident, unsafe condition, or quality deviation to the concerned authority.

3. Required Qualifications & Experience

·         B.Sc. in Chemistry or Diploma/B.Tech in Chemical or Civil Engineering.

·         1–2 years of relevant experience in Building Materials, Construction Chemicals, Dry Mix Products, Cement Products, or Aggregates.

·         Candidates with hands-on laboratory experience in dry mix products will be preferred.

·         Good understanding of cement chemistry, laboratory testing, and quality control practices.

4. Required Skills

·         Good laboratory testing and analytical skills.

·         Basic knowledge of cement chemistry and construction materials.

·         Ability to conduct formulation and product trials.

·         Good observation and problem-solving skills.

·         Ability to maintain accurate laboratory records and reports.

·         Basic knowledge of MS Office, MS Word, and MS Excel.

·         Good communication and teamwork skills.

·         Ability to work independently as well as with cross-functional teams.

5. Key Performance Areas (KRA)

·         Accuracy and timely completion of laboratory testing.

·         Compliance with product quality specifications and applicable standards.

·         Timely completion of formulation and product development trials.

·         Proper maintenance of laboratory records and equipment.

·         Effective support in quality issue investigation and corrective actions.

·         Compliance with laboratory safety and Company procedures.

6. Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be technically sound, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and willing to work in a manufacturing/plant environment. The candidate should have a strong interest in laboratory testing, quality control, and development of dry mix/building material products.
