Description
We are looking for a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to design, implement, and optimize signal processing algorithms and firmware for spacecraft communication systems. You will work on baseband processing, modulation/demodulation, coding, synchronization, and FPGA-based implementations for S-band and X-band transceivers. The role spans algorithm development, real-time implementation on SoCs or FPGAs, hardware-software integration, and validation using GNU Radio and SDR platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement DSP algorithms for modulation/demodulation, filtering, synchronization, FEC, and channel estimation.
- Develop real-time signal processing pipelines for SDR/FPGAs and embedded processors.
- Implement and test physical layer algorithms (BPSK, QPSK, OQPSK, 8PSK, DVB-S2, etc.) in fixed-point or hardware-efficient forms.
- Work with SDR frameworks such as GNU Radio for simulation, prototyping, and hardware-in-the-loop validation.
- Integrate DSP modules with RF front-end and transceiver hardware (S-band, X-band).
- Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to co-design FPGA/SoC architectures.
- Perform link simulations, BER analysis, and channel modeling for satellite communication links.
- Optimize signal chains for latency, throughput, and power consumption in embedded environments.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, Communications, or related fields.
- 2–6 years of experience in DSP algorithm development for RF or wireless communication systems.
- Strong understanding of digital communication theory modulation, coding, synchronization, and spectral efficiency.
- Background in error correction coding (LDPC, Turbo, Reed–Solomon) and hardware implementation.
- Experience in FMECA, worst-case analysis, and failure-rate modeling of DSP/FPGA subsystems.
- Hands-on experience with FPGA-based DSP implementation (VHDL/Verilog or HLS) and embedded microcontrollers.
- Proficiency in GNU Radio, MATLAB/Simulink, or Python for algorithm design and verification.
- Familiarity with SDR hardware platforms.
- Understanding of RF front-end characteristics (gain, noise figure, bandwidth, I/Q balance, etc.).
Nice to Have (Preferred):
- Experience with DVB-S2/X, CCSDS, or similar space communication protocols.
- Familiarity with real-time OS or Linux driver development for SDR systems.
- Exposure to beamforming, MIMO, or adaptive modulation schemes.
- Prior experience in satellite communication systems, CubeSat payloads, or ground station SDRs.
- Experience with co-simulation environments (MATLAB–FPGA or GNU Radio–SoC integration).
