Graduate Student Research Assistant - Qualitative Analysis (Student)

The Begun Center for Violence Prevention Education and Research at Case Western Reserve University is seeking up to two Graduate Research Assistants to support a qualitative research project funded by the 2026 Flora Stone Mather Center for Women, Research and Professional Development Grant.

The project, Completing Voices of Resilience: HIV-Positive Women in Urban India, is based on in-depth interview with 24 women living with HIV in Kolkata, India and examines gender-based violence, stigma, healthcare inequities, and resilience.  Research Assistants will support transcript review, qualitative coding, and manuscript preparation during a short-term appointment in June 2026.  

Key responsibilities:

• Review and organize qualitative interview transcripts
• Development and refine a qualitative coding dictionary/codebook
• Conduct qualitative coding and thematic analysis using Dedoose
• Assist with interpretation of findings related to women's global health and social inequities
• Support manuscript preparation and literature review (students will receive authorship on publications related to the project)

Required:

• Current enrollment as a graduate student at Case Western Reserve University in a social science or related field
• Human Research Protection Certification (formerly CREC certification)
• Experience with qualitative reseach and qualitative coding
• Familiarity with qualitative analysis software (Dedoose preferred)
• Knowledge of women's global health issues and structural inequities
• Strong writing skills and attention to detail

The position(s) is funded at $20 per hour, Student Employment Class VIII.   Approximately 40-45 toal hours per position.
