In a typical week you might design the format and framework for a new booklet series, write and refine worked solutions that read like a great tutor talking a student through it, and set the content standard the rest of the team builds from.

About Contour

We started in 2020 with a handful of students and a belief that great education should not be out of reach. Today we operate across three brands with 8,000+ students and 425+ team members: roughly 100 in India and 325 onshore in Australia. The India team runs publishing, student experience, CRM and technology, operations, and people and culture.

The resources you design are the backbone of how students learn. Get the structure and the clarity right and a hard concept becomes obvious. That is the job.

About This Role

You own the creation and the standard of Contour's maths and english content. So far our academic teams have worked mostly with existing resources. Now we want someone to build fresh material from scratch and define how it is presented, explained, and structured for maximum student impact.

You create original, high-quality content for booklets, assessments, and learning resources, and you set the style, structure, and format that future resources follow. You write clear, student-friendly explanations, examples, and step-by-step solutions that read like a great tutor rather than a textbook. This is a hands-on builder and owner role, not editing or copy-paste: you define question types, set frameworks, and build the scalable processes that content is produced through.

You report into Contour's onshore academic team in Australia and work alongside our existing India content team, aligning what you build with the learning objectives and curriculum requirements they set. You own accuracy, clarity, and consistency across resources, and you set the standard the rest of the team works to. As the content function grows, this is the natural path into content leadership.

The bar that separates a strong hire is subject mastery paired with a designer's eye. You understand maths and english deeply enough to make a hard idea simple, and you care as much about how a resource is structured and presented as about whether the answer is correct. By the end of your first three months, you have produced original booklet or assessment material to a standard the team adopts, defined the style and format for a resource type, and set frameworks others build from. 

What You Will Do

• Build original content. Create high-quality maths and english material for booklets, assessments, and learning resources, from scratch.
• Set the style and structure. Define the format and framework of resources, shaping how they are presented, not just writing the questions.
• Explain like a tutor. Write clear, student-friendly explanations, examples, and step-by-step solutions that help students understand the reasoning, not just the answer.
• Partner with the onshore team. Align content with the learning objectives and curriculum requirements the Australia-based academic team sets.
• Own the standard. Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across resources, and define the frameworks the rest of the team follows.
• Make it scale. Build content processes and improve question types, structure, and delivery so quality holds as volume grows.

Requirements

What You Need

• A bachelor's or master's degree in English, mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong command of maths and english content, enough to make a hard concept simple.
• A designer's eye for structure: you care how a resource is organised and presented, not only whether it is correct.
• Excellent written communication and sharp attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently, own projects end to end, and set a standard others follow.
• Cross-timezone comfort, with overlap into Australian time.

Nice to Have

• Experience in academic content development: booklets, assessments, or worked solutions.
• Experience defining content style, frameworks, or curriculum structure.
• Familiarity with international curricula such as VCE, or with edtech environments.
