Description

This is a remote position.

Mathematics Content Developer, India Remote (India) | Full-Time   Also searched as: Academic Content Developer, Math Content Writer, Subject Matter Expert (Mathematics), Educational Content Developer, VCE Math Content Developer

Do you want to build math resources from the ground up, the booklets, exams, and worked solutions that thousands of students actually learn from?

In a typical week you might write a set of exam-style questions for Year 11 methods, build step-by-step solutions that read like a tutor talking a student through the problem, and align a booklet to the VCE syllabus with the onshore team.

About Contour

We started in 2020 with a handful of students and a belief that great education should not be out of reach. Today we operate across three brands with 8,000+ students and 425+ team members: roughly100 in India and 325 onshore in Australia. The India team runs publishing, student experience, CRM and technology, operations, and people and culture.

For a student stuck on a hard topic, your worked solution is the moment it clicks or it does not. Clarity is the whole job.

About This Role

You create original mathematics content for Contour, for Grades 9 to 12, including practice exams, booklets, assignments, and assessments. This is a hands-on creator role, not editing or refining someone else's work: you write the questions, define the structure, and write the step-by-step solutions that mirror a tutor's voice, helping students understand the reasoning and not just the answer.

You align your work to the VCE and Pre-VCE syllabus for accuracy, consistency, and curriculum fit, and you keep resources logically structured so a student can follow the progression. You work alongside our existing India content team and report into the onshore academic team in Australia, aligning on requirements and learning objectives. You review and refine your content to keep it precise and rigorous, and you contribute to the processes that let content scale.

The bar that separates a strong hire is conceptual depth paired with the ability to explain simply. You understand the math well enough to make a hard method feel obvious, and you write solutions a struggling student can follow on their own. By the end of your first three months, you are producing exam and booklet material independently, aligned to the syllabus, with solutions that read clearly the first time.

What You Will Do

  • Create original math content for Grades 9 to 12: practice exams, booklets, assignments, and assessments.
  • Structure resources for clarity. Define the format and logical progression so material builds the way a student learns.
  • Write like a tutor.  Produce step-by-step, student-friendly solutions that explain the reasoning, not just the result.
  • Align to the syllabus. Match the VCE and Pre-VCE curricula for accuracy, consistency, and fit.
  • Collaborate with the onshore team to align materials with learning objectives.
  • Review and improve. Refine content for precision and rigor, and suggest better question design, structure, and delivery.

Requirements

What You Need

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in mathematics.
  • 1 to 3 years in mathematics content development.
  • Strong conceptual understanding across key mathematics domains.
  • Familiarity with curriculum design and syllabus alignment, VCE mathematics preferred.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and manage several projects at once.
  • Cross-timezone comfort, with overlap into Australian time.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in academic writing, booklets, or assessment development.
  • Exposure to edtech or international curriculum frameworks.
  • Interest in instructional design or educational technology.

The Kind of People Who Thrive Here

The people who do well here are hands-on creators who like building from scratch rather than editing. They care about clarity, logic, and structure in Math, they want ownership and impact over repetitive work, and they are driven to make learning intuitive. They take pride in a worked solution that a student can follow alone.

What good looks like

  • Original content, to standard: exams and booklets that are accurate, clear, and adopted.
  • Solutions a student can follow alone: the reasoning is visible, not just the answer.
  • Syllabus-aligned: material fits the VCE and Pre-VCE curricula and holds up to scrutiny.
  • It scales: you help content get produced faster and more consistently.

Benefits

Fully remote, anywhere in India. Your day runs on India hours with overlap into Australian business time. Compensation is competitive and bench marked to the role and your experience. We discuss it openly early in the process.

Apply with a CV and a short sample or description of Math content you created, a set of questions with worked solutions or a booklet section, and if you can, one worked solution you are proud of.
