Onboarding Associate
CustomerLabs
Description
Designation: Implementation Specialist
About the role
CustomerLabs is a Customer Data Platform that helps marketers capture, transform, and send first-party data to ad platforms, analytics tools, and CRMs. As an Implementation Specialist, you will own the technical onboarding of new customers from kickoff to "we are live and the data looks right."
This is not a scripted SaaS onboarding — every customer's stack is different, and your job is to make CustomerLabs fit cleanly into it.
What you'll do
- Audit each new customer's existing tracking setup — GTM container, GA4 property, Meta Pixel, ad platform pixels — and design how CustomerLabs slots in.
- Implement the CustomerLabs on client websites and configure event tracking.
- Build server-side event flows for key conversions (signups, purchases, form fills, custom events).
- Connect sources to bring data from other platforms such as CRM, OMS, etc.
- Connect downstream destinations: Meta CAPI, Google Ads, GA4, TikTok, and so on.
- Validate data end-to-end — does the event fire on the site, reach CustomerLabs, transform correctly, and land in every destination with the right parameters?
- Troubleshoot discrepancies (the classic "GA4 says 100, Meta says 73" problem) and explain the root cause to the customer.
- Document setups and feed recurring issues back to product and support.
- Ready to work in US timezone
Must-have
- 1-2 years of hands-on tracking implementation on real production websites.
- Working knowledge of Google Tag Manager — tags, triggers, variables, dataLayer, GTM preview/debug. Server-side GTM is a plus.
- Practical experience with at least one ad platform integration: Meta Pixel + Conversion API, Google Ads conversions/Enhanced Conversions, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, etc.
- Comfortable reading and writing small JavaScript snippets — fetching events from the dataLayer, custom HTML tags, browser console debugging.
- Basic understanding of how the web works: HTTP requests, cookies, APIs, client-side vs server-side events.
- Systematic troubleshooting — when something breaks, you isolate where before guessing why.
- Clear written and spoken English; you will be on calls with customer marketing / engineering teams.
Nice-to-have
- Worked with a CDP before.
- Server-side tracking experience (sGTM, custom server endpoints).
- E-commerce tracking on Shopify, WooCommerce, or similar.
- SQL basics for digging into event data.
- Familiarity with attribution.
Who you are
- You enjoy puzzles where the answer is "the conversion ID is missing one character." You find that satisfying, not annoying.
- You are patient with non-technical customers and can translate "the dataLayer event isn't firing on form submit" into language a CMO understands.
- You take ownership — when a customer's data is off, you don't hand it off, you figure it out.
- You are curious about how marketing tools connect under the hood.
Requirements
Required Skills
- Strong communication skills, especially for client-facing conversations.
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript.
- Strong logical reasoning and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to understand technical workflows and explain them in a simple manner.
- Comfortable working with product platforms, dashboards, and implementation-related tasks.
Good to Have's
- Understanding of customer data, website tracking, pixels, events, or marketing technology.
- Prior internship or experience in SaaS, technical support, implementation, or onboarding.
- Basic understanding of eCommerce and digital marketing.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We should look for someone who is technically curious, strong in logic, confident in client communication, and willing to learn CDP-related concepts. This person does not need to be a full developer, but should be comfortable understanding JavaScript and implementation logic.
