Description

  1. Assessment & IEP Development

    • Assess students' cognitive, academic, and functional skills using standardized tools and observations.
    • Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs, strengths, and goals.
  2. Instructional Delivery

    • Use specialized teaching methods and adaptive materials to deliver curriculum content effectively.
    • Modify lessons and assignments to suit varied learning styles and ability levels.
  3. Classroom Management

    • Create a supportive and structured classroom environment that encourages participation and independence.
    • Manage behavioral challenges using positive reinforcement and behavior management strategies.
  4. Monitoring & Documentation

    • Track student progress against IEP goals and adjust strategies accordingly.
    • Maintain detailed records of student performance, progress reports, and communication logs.
  5. Family & Caregiver Engagement

    • Collaborate with parents and caregivers to reinforce learning at home.
    • Conduct regular meetings to review progress, address concerns, and provide guidance.
  6. Team Collaboration

    • Work with therapists (speech, occupational, physio), counselors, and general teachers to provide holistic support.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and school planning processes.
  7. Training & Advocacy

    • Conduct sensitization and awareness sessions for teachers and peers on inclusive practices.
    • Stay updated with best practices in special education and contribute to staff development.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of various disabilities and learning challenges (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia, intellectual disability)
  • Ability to design and implement IEPs and customized instructional strategies
  • Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective classroom and behavior management techniques
  • Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills
  • Creativity in using tools, visuals, and technology for differentiated instruction
