Tire inspector Job Description

A tyre inspector handling warranty claims evaluates defective or worn-out tyres to determine the root cause of failure (manufacturing defect vs. road hazard). They investigate complaints, prepare technical reports, process warranty approvals, and maintain fleet performance data.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

Claim Assessment:

Conduct physical and visual inspections of returned tyres to differentiate between structural defects, poor maintenance, and road hazards.

Failure Analysis:

Perform scrap tyre analysis to document wear patterns (e.g., uneven wear, tread separation, punctures).

. Report Generation:

Create detailed technical reports for the claims department    and justify decisions to approve or reject the warranty.

. Customer & Dealer Coordination:

Communicate claim outcomes professionally to dealers, fleet managers, and end-customers.

Data Tracking:

Maintain accurate logs of tyre performance, mileage, and failure rates to help monitor product quality.

Inspect tires for defects, such as punctures, cuts, and irregular wear patterns

Determine if tires meet safety and quality standards

Use measuring tools, such as tread depth gauges and micrometers, to assess tire condition

Record and report findings to management

Conduct visual and physical inspections of tire materials and components

Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures

Ensure proper handling and storage of tires to prevent damage or deterioration

Collaborate with other team members to maintain a safe and organized work environment

Key Requirements

Industry Experience:

3–5 years of working experience in the tyre, automotive, or fleet maintenance industry.

Technical Knowledge:

Strong understanding of rubber compounds, tyre construction, and failure modes.

Soft Skills:

Conflict resolution, strong written/verbal communication, and reporting skills

Knowledge of tire manufacturing processes and quality control standards

Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings

Attention to detail and ability to identify defects or irregularities in tire production

Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift heavy tires

Strong communication skills to report findings and collaborate with production team

Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed

Familiarity with safety protocols and willingness to adhere to safety guidelines

High school diploma or equivalent education level
