Job Title: Trainee NOC Engineer

Job Summary

The Trainee NOC Engineer is an entry‑level position responsible for learning and supporting basic Network Operations Center (NOC) activities under close supervision.

The role focuses on monitoring systems, observing incident handling, performing simple operational tasks, and learning NOC processes, with the goal of progressing into a Junior NOC Engineer role.

Role Positioning

• Level: Trainee / Pre‑L1
• Primary Focus: Learning, monitoring support, basic tasks
• Decision Authority: Runbook (observation and guided actions only)
• Escalation Ownership: No (assist only)
• Engineering / Design: Not applicable

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Observation

• Monitor infrastructure, network, and application dashboards under supervision
• Observe alert handling and incident response processes
• Assist in validating alerts and identifying basic issues
• Learn severity classification and escalation workflows

Incident & Ticket Support

• Assist senior engineers in creating and updating incident tickets
• Record incident details, timelines, and observations accurately
• Join incident bridges as an observer or support resource
• Learn how SLAs, MTTR, and incident metrics are tracked

General Operational Support

• Perform basic operational tasks as assigned (health checks, status verification)
• Support monitoring during maintenance windows and changes
• Maintain shift logs and documentation under guidance
• Follow NOC SOPs, policies, and operational standards

Learning & Skill Development

• Learn NOC tools, monitoring platforms, and ticketing systems
• Gain basic knowledge of:
  • IT infrastructure and networking concepts
  • Operating systems (Linux/Windows basics)
  • Cloud fundamentals (AWS/Azure/GCP – introductory level)
• Participate in training sessions, shadowing, and knowledge transfers

Required Skills & Educational Qualifications

• Diploma / Engineering / Graduate in IT, Computer Science, or related field
• Freshers or up to 1 year experience
• Basic understanding of computers, networks, and IT fundamentals
• Willingness to learn NOC operations and work in a 24×7 environment
• Good communication and documentation skills

Technical Expertise

• Academic exposure to networking or systems administration
• Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts
• Familiarity with monitoring or ticketing tools (academic or lab exposure)
• Entry‑level IT certifications (optional)
