Responsibilities
Art Tool Production
Support game teams by creating, optimizing, and preparing 2D/3D assets for production. Implement asset breakdown processes, including scale 9 slicing, gradient edits, and export-ready formatting using Photoshop. Create and refine animations and VFX using engine tools, Photoshop, After Effects, Spine 2D, or similar software.
Pipeline Engine Integration
Import, test, and integrate art assets into engines such as Cocos Creator, Cocos 2D, Unity, or relevant internal tools.
Maintain clean asset structures, naming conventions, and export pipelines across projects.
Work with designers and engineers to ensure assets behave and render correctly in-game.
Support shader work through scripting or node-based editors, contributing to visual enhancements.
Optimisation Performance
Apply asset optimisation principles, including POT textures, sprite atlases, texture compression, mip maps, LODs, and polygon reductions.
Use profiling tools and engine features to monitor and improve asset performance.
Collaborate with Artist or Engineers to solve memory, draw call, and rendering bottlenecks.
Follow established optimisation guidelines and contribute to documentation for future projects.
Scripting Tooling
Use scripting knowledge (C#, C++ or Python ) to automate tasks or assist in maintaining tools.
Support the development or improvement of small-scale internal utilities that improve workflow.
Work with engineering and TA peers to debug and refine existing tool pipelines.
Cross-Team Collaboration
Communicate clearly with art, design, production, and engineering teams to ensure smooth feature delivery.
Bridge creative and technical needs by translating visual requirements into engine-ready solutions.
Participate in discussions, clarifying asset requirements and potential technical constraints early in development.
Documentation Process
Create clear documentation for asset pipelines, feature setups, and best practices.
Maintain mockups, guides, or references that help new team members adopt workflows faster.
Contribute to process improvements and share findings or learnings with the larger team.
Quality Review
Perform regular checks on asset quality, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines.
Identify minor artefacts, proportion issues, or style mismatches and correct them or raise flags to relevant teams.
Collect feedback proactively and refine outputs to meet visual and technical expectations.
Ownership, Delivery Accountability
Deliver tasks on time with reliable estimations and timely communication if priorities shift.
Take ownership of assigned features or pipelines with minimal supervision.
Ensure smooth handoff and stability of any systems, tools, or assets you are responsible for.
Learning, RD Growth
Explore new tools, plugins, workflows, and techniques to support upcoming game features.
Conduct small-scale RD tasks and share learnings with the team.
Show steady growth in understanding engine capabilities, rendering workflows, and optimisation methods.
Mentorship Team Contribution
Provide guidance to Other Technical Artists when needed.
Support onboarding by walking new members through tools, workflows, and best practices.
Requirements
Passion for games and creating rockstar experiences. At least 3 to 5 years of game building experience as Technical Artist Technical background in developing scripts, Photoshop actions, and other automation tools necessary for art implementation and optimization Good understanding of Cocos Creator/Unity, including shaders(GLSL/HLSL), lighting, and NGUI Good understanding of particle systems and animation processes. Ability to craft quick concept mockups using Photoshop/Figma/Unity/Cocos and or After effects
