The Associate QA Analyst is an entry-level quality assurance role responsible for supporting day-to-day testing activities to help ensure software applications meet functional requirements and quality standards. This role exists to build foundational QA skills while assisting with manual test execution, defect documentation, and basic test case maintenance under the guidance of IT Quality Engineers and the QA Lead. Working within an Agile team, the Associate QA Analyst contributes to release stability by learning test management practices using Jira and X-ray and supporting documentation in Confluence. This role provides a structured pathway for early-career QA professionals to grow into the IT Quality Engineer role within a collaborative quality engineering environment.

Essential Duties

Assist in executing manual functional, regression, and smoke tests for assigned features under supervision.

Support creation and maintenance of test cases and test steps in X-ray based on defined requirements and templates.

Help identify, document, and log software defects in Jira with clear steps to reproduce.

Assist senior team members with basic automated test script activities using Playwright as directed.

Participate in requirement grooming sessions to learn testability concepts and acceptance criteria.

Help prepare and update testing documentation in Confluence under guidance.

Support verification of bug fixes and assigned regression test activities.

Provide testing progress updates and defect status during daily stand-ups with team support.

Complete assigned QA learning activities and apply new tools, processes, and frameworks as directed.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education Qualifications and Certifications -

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; final-year students with relevant internship or academic project experience may be considered.

Previous Work Experience, including Leadership Experience -

0–2 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or a related field (including internships, co-op programs, or academic testing projects).

Technical / Domain Specific / Functional Experience and Knowledge

• Introductory knowledge of manual testing concepts and the software testing life cycle (STLC).

• Academic or project-based exposure to test case design and defect reporting.

• Basic familiarity with test management tools (Jira and X-ray preferred).

• Willingness to learn automation fundamentals (Playwright preferred) under mentorship.

• Understanding of Agile/Scrum development cycles.

GIA or G&J Industry Specific Experience and Knowledge -

Familiarity with laboratory, grading, or operational technology environments is preferred but not required.

Critical Experiences (including challenges that were overcome, proven skills, demonstrated outcomes, etc.) -

Demonstrated eagerness to learn, attention to detail, and ability to write clear, reproducible defect reports with support from senior team members.
