Position Title

IB MYP Mathematics Teacher

International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP)

Reports To

  • MYP Coordinator
  • School Principal

Position Overview

The IB MYP Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, inquiry-based mathematics instruction aligned with the philosophy and framework of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme.

The teacher will support students in developing strong conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills while preparing them for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Mathematics pathways (Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation).


Key Responsibilities

  1. Curriculum Planning

  • Plan and implement IB MYP Mathematics units for Grades 6–10.

  • Develop unit planners aligned with:

    • Key concepts
    • Related concepts
    • Global contexts
    • Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills.
  • Align instruction with IB standards and practices.


  1. Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver engaging and inquiry-based mathematics lessons.

  • Develop students' understanding in areas such as:

    • Algebra
    • Geometry
    • Trigonometry
    • Statistics and probability
    • Functions
    • Mathematical modeling.
  • Use differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

  • Integrate technology and real-world applications into mathematics teaching.


  1. Assessment and Reporting

  • Design assessments aligned with MYP assessment criteria:

  • Use both formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide constructive feedback to support student growth.

  • Encourage students to become independent learners.
  • Support students preparing for DP Mathematics AA and AI pathways.
  • Provide academic guidance and mentorship.

  1. Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with the Mathematics Department and MYP team.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary planning and projects.
  • Attend faculty meetings, planning sessions, and professional development.

  1. IB Programme Responsibilities

  • Implement the IB philosophy and learner profile attributes.
  • Participate in IB workshops and training.
  • Support school initiatives related to IB programme development and evaluation.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics / Mathematics Education / Related Field

Experience

  • Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience in mathematics.
  • Experience with IB MYP or international curriculum preferred.
