Cloud Platform Software Engineer
IBEE
Description
At IBEE Cloud, we are building a next-generation cloud platform from the ground up—covering compute, storage, networking, and developer platforms. Unlike typical roles that consume cloud services, this role focuses on designing and building cloud infrastructure itself, similar to platforms like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
Role Overview
As a Cloud Platform Software Engineer, you will design and build core infrastructure services that power IBEE Cloud. This includes APIs, control planes, schedulers, orchestration systems, and distributed services for compute, storage, and networking.
You will work deeply on systems design, distributed systems, and infrastructure abstraction layers, building platforms that developers and enterprises rely on to run their applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build core cloud services (Compute, Object Storage, Networking, DNS, Load Balancers)
- Develop control plane systems (API layer, orchestration, resource lifecycle management)
- Build multi-tenant, highly available distributed systems
- Design scalable metadata systems (for VMs, volumes, buckets, networking)
- Work on schedulers for compute, GPU, and container workloads
- Implement authentication, authorization, and isolation mechanisms
- Optimize systems for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance
- Build internal developer platforms and APIs (similar to AWS/GCP primitives)
- Collaborate with infra, networking, and GPU teams
What Makes This Role Different
- You are building the cloud, not deploying apps on cloud
- Work on core primitives like compute, storage, and networking
- Solve hard distributed systems problems at scale
- Direct impact on platform architecture and product direction
Requirements
Required Skills
- Strong programming skills (Go / Java / Python preferred)
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and system design
- Experience building backend systems or large-scale APIs
- Knowledge of Linux internals (processes, networking, storage)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing)
- Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL, distributed storage systems)
Preferred Qualifications
- 2–6+ years of experience in backend / platform / systems engineering
- Experience building or contributing to infrastructure systems
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, container runtimes, or virtualization (KVM)
- Exposure to object storage (S3-compatible), block storage, or file systems
- Experience with message queues and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Understanding of IAM systems and multi-tenant architectures
Key Areas You'll Work On
- Cloud control plane (API + orchestration layer)
- Compute platform (VM lifecycle, scheduling, GPU allocation)
- Object storage (S3-compatible APIs, metadata systems)
- Networking platform (VPC, load balancers, firewall, routing)
- Developer platform (CLI, SDKs, automation APIs)
