We are looking for a highly motivated, independent thinking individual to join our team located in Columbus, Ohio, Buenos Aires, Argentina and Mumbai, India. 

The Case Oversight & Administration Team (COAT) is a growing, talented team of individuals who collaborate and work together to promote an inclusive environment. The team is responsible for the initial case assessment, data monitoring and management processes for Litigation managed by the JPMorgan Chase Legal Department. As an Associate Counsel for COAT, you should be able to review and summarize legal and non-legal documents to discern issues, apply specific policy and procedural criteria, interact with legal and non-legal staff, create reports and perform data analysis, and coordinate with other legal colleagues in a professional, fast paced environment. You will be required to make decisions based on your knowledge of legal concepts as well your understanding of particular business units and functions.

Job responsibilities:

  • Research of systems to identify customers, accounts and areas of the Firm involved in Litigation.
  • Accurately complete the initial case set up in the litigation matter management system, including drafting a concise summary of the allegations, properly categorizing the case based on the allegations presented, and highlighting issues in the case.
  • Assess matters for Operational Risk in accordance with Firm standards and framework.
  • Draft Code of Conduct escalation forms based on allegations presented.
  • Preparation and distribution of reports regarding the accuracy and completeness of the case management data in the matter management system, and correspond with legal professionals concerning the same.
  • Review and analyze matters submitted by the legal professionals for closure in the matter management system, ensuring all fields are updated accurately and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Recognition of high risk matters and trends in litigation, and timely escalation to management.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Licensed Attorney with a minimum of 3 years of legal experience or experience in the financial industry. A litigation background is preferred.
  • Strong English oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical, organizational, research, presentation, time management, and project management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Microsoft Office Applications

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Working knowledge of banking and finance is a plus.
  • Familiarity with US law and regulations regarding the financial industry preferred.
