Project Associate - KGBV Strengthening

The Project Associate will play a key role in implementing the designed interventions in the allocated KGBV schools by working directly with children and teachers. The role involves close coordination and engagement with school principals, GCDOs (Girl Child Development Officers), teachers, and students, in collaboration with the LFE Project Manager and senior team members. The Project Associate will support the achievement of school-level goals and objectives by contributing to the delivery of academic, gender, and teacher-support interventions, and by identifying on-ground needs that require additional support to strengthen outcomes related to the overall improvement and empowerment of KGBV girls and teachers. This role combines strong academic engagement with intensive field work, contributing to the development of KGBV girls' foundational learning, confidence, agency, and well-being. The Project Associate will also support the professional learning journeys of KGBV teachers by assisting in classroom observations, mentoring processes, and reflective practices, while maintaining consistent coordination with school and departmental stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have prior classroom teaching or facilitation experience, subject-level familiarity, and an understanding of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN). Exposure to or willingness to learn and apply a gender-sensitive and inclusion-focused lens is essential. We are looking for a reflective practitioner with strong execution skills who is proactive, open to feedback, and comfortable working in dynamic, collaborative and field-intensive environments. The responsibilities are as follows: Project Implementation (50%) Support foundational learning for students (Grades 6–8) in KGBV schools by facilitating planned academic support sessions and assisting in activities aimed at improving grade-level readiness focussing on English & Mathematics Assist in strengthening teacher competencies through classroom observations, documentation, and sharing structured feedback under the guidance of senior team members. Support the facilitation of need-based teacher workshops and learning sessions, contributing to preparation, coordination, and follow-up based on identified classroom needs. Implement gender sensitization sessions for students and teachers using existing modules and facilitation plans, ensuring sessions are age-appropriate and contextually relevant. Facilitate safe and inclusive dialogue spaces for girls, encouraging participation and open conversations on sensitive topics related to gender, health, and well-being with support from the project team. Coordinate closely with school leadership and teachers to ensure smooth implementation of academic and gender-focused activities. Collect, document, and reflect on program data and field insights, supporting monitoring, learning, and reporting processes. Content Creation & designing (30%) Support the development of academic and life-skills content for students (Grades 6–8), including lesson plans, worksheets, activity guides, and simple assessments under guidance. Assist in contextualising content for KGBV settings, adapting materials to be age-appropriate, language-sensitive, and relevant to adolescent girls' contexts. Prepare detailed session plans for student learning sessions, gender sensitization activities, and dialogue circles based on existing frameworks and templates. Support the development and use of teacher-facing resources such as facilitation guides, observation formats, and reflection tools to aid classroom improvement efforts. Collaborate with teachers and field teams to adapt content based on classroom realities, student responses, and implementation challenges. Incorporate gender, inclusion, and socio-emotional learning perspectives into sessions and materials with guidance from senior team members. Support piloting and revision of content and session plans by capturing feedback from classrooms and sharing improvement suggestions. Stakeholder Management (20%) Coordinate with school leaders, teachers, and district officials to support scheduling, communication, and smooth on-ground implementation. Support the organization of review meetings with government stakeholders by preparing notes, documentation, and follow-up actions. Represent the organization in meetings and workshops at the district or block level when required, along with senior team members. Assist in preparing donor and internal reports by compiling field updates, stories, photographs, and basic data.

Master's Degree preferred in either Mathematics or English (Education, Development, Management, or related disciplines). Subject Matter Expert is needed either in Mathematics or English. Minimum 2 years of classroom teaching experience is mandatory. 1–2 years of experience in education, teacher training, instructional design, or academic project coordination. Prior experience mentoring teachers or fellows and facilitating teacher development programs. Experience supervising teams and coordinating with government stakeholders. Proven experience and understanding of working with adolescent girls or gender empowerment. Familiarity with foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) initiatives and classroom practices.
