Job Description: Audit (OFC) - KRA & KPI

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

1. OFC Infrastructure Audit & Quality Assurance

  • Audit fiber optic cable work execution across different deployment methodologies (aerial, underground, duct-based)
  • Verify proper duct closure with end plugs after Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) shoot completion
  • Inspect chamber installation quality and structural integrity
  • Ensure earthing compliance at every 8 km of optical fiber distance as per standards
  • Verify installation of simple plugs at duct entry points within chambers
  • Check PCC (Plain Cement Concrete) work quality in chamber construction
  • Audit cable looping procedures and verify proper execution
  • Inspect fiber splicing quality in closures and ensure proper fiber routing in splice trays
  • Conduct depth verification surveys to identify low-depth cable locations
  • Verify protective measures for underground cables (warning tape, marker posts, protection slabs)

2. Route Verification & Field Issue Management

  • Conduct physical route verification for existing (old) OFC routes
  • Identify and document field-level issues, damages, and non-compliance
  • Report findings to Operations team with detailed observations and photographic evidence
  • Obtain committed timelines for rectification of identified issues
  • Track and monitor rectification progress through weekly reviews until work closure
  • Follow up on pending issues and escalate delays to appropriate authorities

3. Enterprise Customer Connectivity & Service Quality

  • Audit fiber connectivity delivery for Enterprise customers
  • Investigate repeated outage incidents on customer escalation routes
  • Conduct root cause analysis for frequent service disruptions
  • Review historical cases on a weekly basis to identify patterns and systemic issues
  • Ensure timely resolution of enterprise customer connectivity issues

4. Aerial Cable Inspection & Risk Assessment

  • Inspect aerial OFC routes for cable sagging issues during weekly reviews
  • Identify potential physical damage risks from high-rise vehicle movements
  • Assess clearance heights and compliance with safety standards
  • Recommend preventive measures for vulnerable aerial sections
  • Monitor seasonal and weather-related impacts on aerial infrastructure

 

5. Safety & Execution Compliance

  • Verify adherence to safety protocols during OFC execution work
  • Ensure proper barricading is installed during ongoing execution activities
  • Check deployment and functionality of safety horns/warning systems at work sites
  • Audit compliance with safety precautions during trenching, splicing, and restoration work
  • Monitor use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by field teams
  • Ensure proper traffic management and public safety measures at work locations

6. Documentation, Reporting & MIS

  • Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, observations, and recommendations
  • Maintain audit checklists and compliance documentation
  • Track audit outcomes and closure status through MIS dashboards
  • Conduct weekly review meetings and prepare status reports
  • Maintain photographic evidence and geo-tagged location data for audits
  • Generate periodic trend analysis reports on recurring issues

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Quality & Compliance KPIs

  • Audit Coverage: Minimum 95% of planned route/sites audited monthly
  • Compliance Rate: >90% adherence to OFC installation standards across audited sites
  • First-Time Right (FTR): >85% of audited work meeting quality standards without rework
  • Earthing Compliance: 100% compliance with earthing at 8 km intervals
  • Depth Compliance: >90% of cable routes meeting minimum depth requirements (as per standards)

Issue Resolution KPIs

  • Issue Identification Rate: Number of critical/major issues identified per audit cycle
  • Closure Rate: >80% of identified issues resolved within committed timelines
  • Average Resolution Time: Mean time for issue rectification (Target: <15 days for critical issues)
  • Repeat Issue Rate: <10% recurrence of similar issues on same routes

Customer Impact KPIs

  • Enterprise Outage Reduction: >30% reduction in repeated outages on escalated customer routes (quarter-on-quarter)
  • Customer Complaint Closure: 100% audit of enterprise customer escalation cases within 48 hours
  • Customer Impact Score: <5% of audited enterprise routes with unresolved connectivity issues

Safety & Risk Management KPIs

  • Safety Compliance Score: >95% adherence to safety protocols (barricading, signage, PPE) during audits
  • Aerial Sagging Incidents: <5% of audited aerial routes with critical sagging issues
  • Risk Mitigation: 100% high-risk locations (vehicle damage zones) documented and escalated

Operational Efficiency KPIs

  • Weekly Review Adherence: 100% completion of weekly review meetings with Operations team
  • Audit Cycle Time: Average time per site audit (Target: <4 hours per major site)
  • Report Turnaround Time: Audit reports submitted within 24 hours of site visit
  • Documentation Completeness: >95% of audits with complete documentation (photos, GPS coordinates, measurements)

Trend Analysis & Continuous Improvement KPIs

  • Old Case Review: 100% review of pending old cases on weekly basis
  • Trend Identification: Monthly trend reports on recurring issues submitted on time
  • Preventive Action: Number of preventive recommendations implemented (Target: >70% acceptance rate)
  • Process Improvement: Quarterly suggestions for process/quality improvements

 

Competencies Required

  • Strong understanding of OFC network architecture and installation methodologies
  • Knowledge of fiber splicing, testing, and restoration techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and route maps
  • Proficiency in audit methodologies and quality control processes
