Associate AI/ML Developer

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As an AI/ML Intern at MKS Instruments, you will partner with the AI & Data Science Team to support the development, testing, and deployment of AI and Machine Learning solutions. In this role, you will report to the AI & Data Science Manager.

You Will Make an Impact By:

• Assisting in the development, testing, and evaluation of Machine Learning and AI models.
• Supporting data collection, cleaning, preprocessing, and exploratory data analysis to prepare high-quality datasets.
• Building and validating predictive models under the guidance of senior AI/ML engineers and data scientists.
• Assisting in integrating AI and Machine Learning models into business applications and workflows.
• Documenting code, experiments, model performance, and technical processes to support knowledge sharing.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to learn and contribute to AI-driven solutions.
• Travel Requirements: Need basis.

Skills You Bring:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

• Years of job-related work experience: 0–2 years of related experience.

• Required Experience or Technical Skills:

  • Basic understanding of Machine Learning concepts, statistics, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Experience with Python and familiarity with data analysis libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, or Scikit-learn.
  • Basic knowledge of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Generative AI concepts is a plus.
  • Experience in building system solutions or business applications with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Skills (Optional)

• Familiarity with Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, or other cloud-based AI platforms.
• Exposure to Git, Visual Studio Code, or Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of Streamlit, Jupyter Notebooks, or data visualization libraries such as Matplotlib or Plotly.
• Understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), Prompt Engineering, or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts.
• Experience with SQL and basic data engineering concepts.

Supervisory Scope (Optional)

• Reporting Relationships: Reports to the AI & Data Science Manager.
• Financial Responsibilities: None.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Physical Demand 1: Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
• Physical Demand 2: Ability to perform software development and coding tasks.
• Working Condition 1: Regular use of a computer, keyboard, and monitor in an office or remote work environment.
• Working Condition 2: Collaborative work environment with participation in team meetings and project discussions.
