Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Flight Controls Engineer to join us for the development of flight controls for an aeroelastic aircraft. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of flight control systems for unmanned aerial vehicles. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration and performance of UAV control systems.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and Development:Design and optimize the stability and controllability to meet safety and mission requirementsDevelop and implement advanced flight control algorithms and systems for UAVs.Design and optimize control loops for stability, performance, and robustness.Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate control systems with UAV platforms.Establish multiloop flight control algorithms for aeroelastic aircraft.Implement guidance and control in MATLAB/ SIMULINK and C++Establish sub-system-level hardware requirements and validate them experimentally.Conduct safety analysis using STPA, FHA, FMEA and FTA.Perform integrated system checks on iron bird and subscale platformsTesting and Validation:Conduct simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to validate control system performance.Perform flight testing and data analysis to refine and improve control algorithms.Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to flight control systems.Certification and Compliance:Ensure flight control systems meet relevant certification requirements, including DO-178C standards.Prepare documentation and artifacts required for certification processes.Work with regulatory bodies to achieve necessary certifications for UAV systems.Integration and Collaboration:Work closely with a cross functional team of engineers to ensure seamless system integration.Support the development of high-fidelity flight simulation models for aeroelastic aircraft.Support the development of system-level requirements and specifications.Documentation and Reporting:Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports.Communicate progress and results to stakeholders and provide recommendations for improvements.Innovation and Improvement:Stay current with advancements in flight control technologies and UAV industry trends.Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance UAV performance and capabilities.Apply first-principles thinking to problem formulation and solution synthesis, driving innovation in simulation model development.
Eligibility Criteria
Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with thesis or project in flight dynamics and controls. 3-5 years of experience in flight control system design and development, preferably with UAVs.
