Description

  1. Community outreach and mobilisation

·       Map the assigned catchment area and identify eligible candidates through community visits, educational institutions, youth groups, self-help groups, local bodies, NGOs and other approved channels.

·       Plan and conduct awareness meetings, orientation sessions, help desks, campaigns and door-to-door outreach in line with the project mobilisation plan.

·       Explain the programme, eligibility criteria, course structure, duration, learner expectations and available support accurately; avoid making unapproved commitments.

  1. Candidate counselling and screening

·       Understand each candidate's education, interests, availability and career goals, and guide them towards the appropriate approved course or batch.

·       Conduct preliminary eligibility screening and refer exceptional cases to the Coordinator or Project Manager for a decision.

·       Address candidate and parent/guardian questions respectfully and encourage informed participation, especially among women and underserved groups.

  1. Registration and documentation support

·       Support candidates in completing approved registration forms and submitting complete, valid documents within the required timeline.

·       Verify basic completeness of names, contact details, age, education and supporting documents before forwarding records for enrolment.

·       Coordinate with the MIS/centre team to ensure candidate information is entered correctly and duplicates or documentation gaps are resolved promptly.

  1. Batch formation and learner follow-up

·       Maintain an active candidate pipeline and support formation of batches as per approved capacity, eligibility mix and project timelines.

·       Confirm joining details with selected candidates and share only authorised information on schedules, venue, attendance and conduct requirements.

·       Follow up on absentees, drop-out risks and disengaged learners; document reasons and coordinate suitable retention actions with the training team.

  1. Stakeholder coordination

·       Build professional relationships with community leaders, institutions, employers and referral partners relevant to mobilisation.

·       Coordinate daily with the Coordinator, trainers, centre team and MIS Executive on candidate status, enrolment, attendance and pending actions.

·       Represent NIIT Foundation and the Cisco Project professionally during all field visits and public interactions.

  1. Reporting, evidence and compliance

·       Maintain daily outreach, lead, counselling, registration, conversion and follow-up trackers in the prescribed format.

·       Submit accurate daily/weekly updates and supporting evidence, including authorised photographs or attendance records where applicable.

·       Take informed consent before collecting or sharing personal data or photographs, protect confidential information and use only approved communication channels.

·       Immediately report safeguarding concerns, complaints, incidents, misinformation or unethical practices through the defined escalation process.

Education and Experience

·       Graduate in any discipline; candidates with relevant community outreach experience and strong local networks may also be considered as per project norms.

·       Typically 1-3 years of experience in mobilisation, field outreach, admissions, counselling, community development, skilling or education projects.

·       Knowledge of the assigned geography, local communities, educational institutions and referral networks is strongly preferred.

·       Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned location.

Skills and Competencies

·       Strong interpersonal, counselling and public-speaking skills

·       Fluency in Hindi and the relevant local language; basic working English is desirable

·       Basic smartphone, WhatsApp, email and spreadsheet/data-entry capability

·       Persuasion and relationship-building without pressure or misrepresentation

·       Target orientation, discipline, integrity and accurate record keeping

·       Sensitivity to inclusion, gender, disability, safeguarding and beneficiary dignity
