Role:

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer to join our dynamic team in a full-time hybrid role based in Chennai, offering a flexible working arrangement with options for remote work. The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing and maintaining our backend infrastructure, focusing on delivering high-quality, scalable, and sustainable solutions that support our mission of climate action.

Responsibilities:

·        Python is a second language.

·        Design and Development: Proficiency in Python with extensive experience in the FASTAPI framework. You will design, develop, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable backend code, focusing on creating high-quality, sustainable solutions.

·        Database Management: Strong understanding and hands-on experience with database management systems, specifically Postgres and MongoDB. You should have expertise in spatial data manipulation and analysis using POSTGIS, enabling you to implement and manage complex databases effectively. Table architecture for parallel queries in a responsive manner.

·        Collaboration and Integration: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to integrate backend services with front-end applications and data analytics platforms. This includes contributing to the development and maintenance of a robust data architecture to support analytics and decision-making processes across the organization.

·        Performance Optimization: Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. This involves identifying bottlenecks and bugs, and devising solutions to these problems, ensuring high availability and scalability, especially in support of the deployment of backend services on Azure.

·        Best Practices and Continuous Learning: Participate in code reviews and adhere to best practices in software development. You're expected to stay updated on emerging technologies, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.

·        Metadata Management and Governance: Familiarity with the principles of metadata management and governance is essential. You will play a key role in ensuring that data is accurately managed and governed within the organization's data architecture.

·        Data Science Collaboration: Ability to collaborate on data science workflows and contribute to the structure of data science projects. This includes working closely with data teams to leverage environmental and climate datasets, and generating insights from exploratory data analysis.

·        Problem-solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities are critical. You will be responsible for devising and implementing solutions to technical challenges, demonstrating a commitment to producing high-quality, sustainable code.
