Technical Project Lead / Technical Bid Manager – Industrial Digital Solutions, Bid Support

Role Purpose

The Technical Project Lead / Technical Bid Manager is a full-time core member of the Bid Support team, dedicated to industrial digitalization opportunities. This role is not a side activity, temporary support, or occasional contribution from execution; it is a dedicated Bid Support role with ownership of technical bid structuring, planning, estimation, and execution feasibility. The role requires a hands-on technical profile with strong project delivery experience, able to read customer RFPs, understand scope, technical nuances, define execution approach, build realistic schedules and estimates, coordinate technical inputs, and work jointly with the Solution Architect to deliver high-quality bids. This role acts as the execution-minded technical lead during the bid phase, ensuring that what is offered can actually be delivered.

Key Responsibilities

·Act as the dedicated Technical Project Lead / Technical Bid Manager within the Bid Support team. ·Own the technical structuring, execution planning, estimation logic, and delivery feasibility of industrial digital bids. ·Analyze RFPs, RFQs, technical specifications, customer requirements, and bid documentation to identify scope, deliverables, risks, assumptions, exclusions, and execution constraints. ·Structure the technical bid approach together with the Solution Architect and Bid / Commercial / Process Owner. ·Define work packages, execution logic, project phases, deliverables, milestones, dependencies, and resource needs. ·Prepare technical effort estimations, cost inputs, implementation schedules, project timelines, delivery models, and execution assumptions. ·Coordinate technical inputs from Software, Automation, Cybersecurity, Portfolio, Technology, Engineering, Regional teams, and external partners where applicable. ·Ensure that estimates, schedules, and execution models are realistic and based on actual delivery experience. ·Identify gaps, ambiguities, deviations, and potential commercial/technical risks in customer documents. ·Manage clarification inputs, internal technical reviews, handover preparation, and bid-to-execution continuity. ·Write proposal content related to execution methodology, implementation planning, project organization, schedule, assumptions, exclusions, and responsibilities. ·Maintain consistency between scope, schedule, cost, technical solution, and delivery model. ·Continuously improve bid templates, estimation models, planning logic, lessons learned, and reusable execution content. Required Experience ·Strong hands-on experience in delivery or execution of industrial automation, digitalization, software, OT, or industrial IT projects. ·Proven ability to understand technical scope, execution complexity, dependencies, interfaces, and project risks. ·Experience preparing or validating project schedules, effort estimates, resource plans, assumptions, exclusions, and implementation strategies. ·Experience working with RFPs/RFQs, customer specifications, technical proposals, or bid preparation. ·Ability to coordinate multiple technical stakeholders and consolidate inputs into one coherent bid package. ·Strong understanding of how technical decisions impact cost, schedule, risk, and delivery feasibility. Required Skills ·Strong technical project management and execution-planning mindset. ·Ability to convert complex scope into structured work packages, timelines, and estimation logic. ·Strong analytical skills to detect unclear requirements, hidden scope, missing assumptions, and execution risks. ·Good technical writing skills for proposal content, execution approach, and bid documentation. ·Strong communication and coordination skills across departments and regions. ·Ability to work under bid deadlines while maintaining technical quality and consistency. ·Fluent English; German or other regional language is a plus.Preferred Profile ·Candidate with strong practical delivery background — someone who has "been in the field" or worked deeply in project execution, not only in coordination. ·Experience in industrial automation, digital platforms, software implementation, OT/IT integration, cloud/on-premise deployments, service projects, or managed digital solutions. ·Previous exposure to industrial clients in energy, oil & gas, process industries, cement, marine, utilities, or similar sectors. ·Experience with Siemens Energy project execution, PM@SE, digital portfolio, bid support processes, or regional execution models is a plus.Key Interfaces ·Solution Architect ·Bid / Commercial / Process Owner ·Software Architects ·Execution and Implementation teams ·Portfolio & Innovation ·Technology / Product teams ·Cybersecurity specialists ·Regional Sales and Bid teams ·Procurement / partners / subcontractors, when required ·Customer technical and project representatives, when required

·The Bid Support team has a dedicated full-time technical execution and estimation capability. ·Bid scope is structured into a realistic and executable delivery approach. ·Estimates, schedules, and resource assumptions are technically sound and defendable. ·Technical risks, dependencies, exclusions, and assumptions are identified early. ·Bid documentation is complete, consistent, and aligned with execution reality. ·Handover from bid to execution is smoother, with fewer surprises and less rework. ·The Bid Support team can handle more opportunities with better quality and repeatability.
