Team Member - Health Safety Environment

Job Description: EHS Executive (Environment, Health & Safety) Department: Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Location: Control Panel Manufacturing Unit (Wind Turbine Generator Manufacturing) Reports To: EHS Manager / Plant Head Job Purpose To ensure compliance with all Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations, company standards, and customer requirements within the WTG Control Panel Manufacturing Unit. The role is responsible for promoting a safe working environment, preventing occupational injuries, ensuring environmental compliance, conducting safety inspections, and driving a strong safety culture across the plant. Key Responsibilities Health & Safety Management Implement and monitor EHS policies, procedures, and work instructions across the manufacturing facility. Ensure compliance with statutory safety requirements and company safety standards. Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and workplace risk assessments. Identify unsafe conditions and unsafe acts and ensure timely corrective actions. Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and awareness programs. Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) for manufacturing operations. Ensure implementation of appropriate control measures for identified risks. Review risk assessments periodically and whenever process changes occur. Support departments in developing safe work practices and SOPs. Incident & Accident Management Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. Perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Maintain records of accidents, first aid cases, near misses, and safety observations. Monitor closure of corrective actions arising from incidents. Environmental Management Monitor compliance with environmental regulations and company environmental objectives. Ensure proper segregation, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Monitor waste generation and implement waste reduction initiatives. Promote resource conservation activities related to energy, water, and material usage. Maintain environmental records and compliance documentation. Safety Training & Awareness Conduct employee induction training on EHS requirements. Organize periodic safety awareness programs, toolbox talks, and emergency preparedness trainings. Train employees on PPE usage, safe handling of materials, and emergency response procedures. Coordinate annual safety campaigns and awareness initiatives. Emergency Preparedness & Response Develop and maintain emergency response plans. Conduct mock drills for fire, medical emergency, electrical incidents, and evacuation scenarios. Ensure emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, alarm systems, hydrants, and first aid kits are maintained and readily available. Coordinate with external emergency agencies when required. Contractor Safety Management Ensure all contractors comply with plant EHS requirements. Conduct contractor safety induction before work commencement. Verify work permits for high-risk activities such as electrical work, hot work, work at height, lifting operations, and confined space entry. Monitor contractor safety performance and compliance. Compliance & Audit Management Ensure compliance with Factories Act, Environmental Regulations, and other applicable statutory requirements. Support implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems. Coordinate internal, external, customer, and certification audits. Track closure of audit observations and compliance actions. PPE & Safety Equipment Management Monitor availability and usage of personal protective equipment (PPE). Conduct PPE compliance audits across departments. Ensure safety signage, warnings, and emergency information boards are properly displayed. Maintain records of PPE issuance and replacement. Continuous Improvement Drive safety improvement projects and behavior-based safety initiatives. Monitor EHS performance indicators and prepare management reports. Support implementation of Lean, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives from an EHS perspective. Promote a zero-harm culture across the organization. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) Number of Near Misses Reported and Closed Safety Audit Compliance Score Statutory Compliance Status PPE Compliance Percentage Closure Rate of Corrective Actions Number of Safety Trainings Conducted Environmental Non-Conformities Waste Reduction & Recycling Performance Position-Specific Requirements Bachelor's Degree / Diploma in Safety, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline. Additional qualification in Industrial Safety / NEBOSH / IOSH / Safety Management preferred. 3-8 years of experience in EHS within manufacturing industries. Experience in electrical equipment, control panel, electronics, switchgear, or industrial manufacturing environments preferred. Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations. Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHS reporting systems.
