JOB DESCRIPTION – OMS ENGINEER (WTG O&M)

1. POSITION INFORMATION

2. PURPOSE OF POSITION

The OMS Engineer is responsible for safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) to ensure maximum availability, optimal performance, and statutory compliance, in alignment with Suzlon's HSE, Quality, and Operational Excellence standards.

3. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITY MATRIX

3.1 OMS Junior Engineer

Role Summary
An entry‑level technical role responsible for supporting WTG maintenance activities under supervision while ensuring compliance with Suzlon safety and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in execution of preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of WTGs as per OEM manuals and SOPs
• Carry out routine inspections, lubrication, and minor servicing activities
• Strictly adhere to HSE guidelines, PTW, LOTO, and Work at Height procedures
• Maintain site records, checklists, and maintenance documentation
• Support fault clearance activities as instructed by senior engineers
• Ensure good housekeeping and proper use of tools, tackles, and PPE

Qualification & Experience

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics
• 0–2 years of experience in Wind / Power / Industrial maintenance

3.2 OMS Engineer

Role Summary
A technical role responsible for independent execution of WTG operations and maintenance, fault diagnosis, and supervision of junior resources at site.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of WTGs
• Diagnose and rectify electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control system faults
• Monitor SCADA alarms and coordinate turbine restoration
• Ensure compliance with OEM standards, HSE policy, and statutory norms
• Supervise and guide Junior Engineers and technicians
• Track and report WTG availability, downtime, and loss of generation
• Coordinate with SCM, Grid, SCADA, and HSE teams
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly OMS performance reports

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma / B.E / B.Tech (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics)
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in Wind WTG O&M

3.3 OMS Senior Engineer

Role Summary
A leadership role responsible for managing site OMS performance, people productivity, turbine health, safety adherence, and stakeholder coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, monitor, and control site OMS operations across assigned WTGs
• Review and ensure timely execution of maintenance schedules
• Lead troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and improvement actions
• Ensure 100% compliance to HSE, statutory, and OEM requirements
• Manage crane activities, major breakdowns, and overhaul jobs
• Review SCADA trends, availability, PLF, MTTR, and loss analysis
• Develop team capability through training, coaching, and performance review
• Coordinate with customers, OEMs, auditors, and internal stakeholders

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma / B.E / B.Tech (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics)
• Minimum 5–8 years of experience in Wind OMS
• Site/Area level leadership exposure mandatory

4. HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT (MANDATORY)

Applicable to all OMS roles:

• Medically fit for tower climbing and rescue operations
• Mandatory adherence to Suzlon HSE Policy, Golden Rules, and Life‑Saving Rules
• Participation in safety trainings, drills, audits, and certifications
• Zero tolerance towards safety violations

5. WORKING CONDITIONS

• Working at heights and confined spaces
• Exposure to site and field conditions
• Remote site deployment and rotational shifts
• On‑call duty during breakdowns and grid exigencies
