Position Description
Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Homologation engineer to join the Homologation and Safety Test Team. As a Homologation Engineer, you will lead the end-to-end homologation process for vehicles and components in India. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with Indian regulations (CMVR, AIS, BIS, etc.) and secure certifications from agencies like ARAI, ICAT, and MoRTH. Your expertise will drive the seamless launch of EV products while adhering to safety, environmental, and performance standards. The scope will include ensuring the functional groups are meeting requirements to support certification and compliance. This role requires clear understanding of required government procedures, vehicle certification requirements and management of testing and paperwork to support certification.
Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Prepare and submit technical documentation for vehicle/component certifications (e.g., ARAI, ICAT, MoRTH).
- Ensure adherence to Indian standards (CMVR, AIS, BIS) and EV-specific norms (e.g., AIS-038, AIS-048).
- Testing & Certification:
- Coordinate with testing agencies for vehicle/component evaluations (safety, emissions, battery, charging systems).
- Analyze test results and address non-compliance issues.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work with R&D, design, and manufacturing teams to integrate regulatory requirements into product development.
- Advise on design changes to meet homologation standards.
- Regulatory Monitoring:
- Track updates to Indian automotive/EV regulations and communicate impacts internally.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain certification records and prepare reports for internal and regulatory stakeholders.
- Audits & Compliance:
- Support internal audits and resolve compliance gaps.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical/automotive engineering. Master's preferred.
- Experience: 3–5 years in automotive homologation, with EV experience (batteries, motors, charging systems).
Technical Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Indian regulations (CMVR, AIS, BIS, MoRTH).
- Familiarity with ARAI/ICAT testing procedures and EV standards.
- Proficiency in homologation software/tools.
- Certifications: Automotive regulatory affairs (e.g., SAE, SIAM) is a plus.
