George Institute Services India Private Limited ("the Company") was incorporated on 02 March 2021 as a private limited company under the Companies Act, 2013. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of George Institute Ventures Pty Ltd, Australia and its ultimate holding company is The George Institute for Global Health, Australia.

The Company provides advisory and consulting services in the healthcare space, undertakes commissioned research, and provides various other services including but not limited to business process outsourcing, technological support, conducting research conducting seminars, events, workshops etc.

Context and Role

The Assistant Manager - Finance will be primarily responsible for providing general management of all financial aspects of the company including but not limited to planning, funding, day to day management and oversight of budgets and all financial activities.

The position will also assist the Finance Manager in all reporting, compliance matters, internal controls and audits, recording of transactions while ensuring the authenticity, integrity, accuracy, authorization and verifiability of all financial transactions recorded in the accounting system, and also assist in development/ improvement of related processes, systems and standards.

The position is based in New Delhi and would involve occasional travelling to other offices of the organization.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

Key duties and responsibilities include the following:

Budgeting, Planning & Analysis

  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets for entity and projects and support upload in financial planning systems i.e. JEDOX
  • Conduct monthly Budget vs Actual analysis with project managers and provide actionable insights
  • Support cash flow planning, cost control, and profitability monitoring across projects
  • Provide financial inputs and insights for leadership reviews

Accounting Operations & Controls

  • Ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions in Tally with proper cost centre and project allocation
  • Review and validate vendor bills, staff reimbursements, and consultancy invoices with supporting documents and agreements
  • Ensure proper accounting of project expenses in line with client contracts and profitability targets
  • Maintain vendor master, ensure proper approvals, and enforce internal financial controls
  • Conduct monthly ledger scrutiny and ensure completeness and accuracy of books

Statutory Compliance & Taxation

  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF, ESI, and other statutory compliances
  • Handle GST (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2A reconciliation, E-invoicing, RCM, self-invoicing)
  • Ensure accurate TDS deduction, payment, reconciliation, and return filings
  • Handle GST and Income Tax notices and coordinate responses with consultants
  • Support transfer pricing compliance including documentation and filings (3CEB, 3CEAA, etc.)
  • Assist in advance tax computation and income tax return preparation
  • Assit in GST Refund matters

Financial Reporting & Closing

  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare and submit month-end reports to overseas parent entity within timelines
  • Prepare financial statements and coordinate with statutory auditors
  • Prepare analytical reports such as Trial Balance Review (TBR) and Balance Sheet Movement
  • Compile and validate data from systems like Tally, JEDOX, ADP, etc.
  • Preparation of Financial Statement for the entity as a whole

Invoicing, Revenue & Project Finance

  • Ensure timely preparation and issuance of client invoices and follow-up for collections
  • Maintain revenue recognition accuracy and ensure completeness across projects
  • Review MSA, SO, CTA agreements and ensure correct financial treatment
  • Maintain and review project-wise MIS, CTA MIS, and financial dashboards
  • Track budget vs actuals for all active projects and ensure invoice alignment with agreements
  • Support project teams with end-to-end financial coordination

Banking & Treasury Management

  • Supervise and review all banking operations including payments, reconciliations, and compliance
  • Prepare and upload CMS/Paypro files for vendor and payroll payments
  • Supervise and review monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts
  • Coordinate with banks for foreign remittances, FIRCs, and regulatory requirements
  • Track forex transactions and support exchange rate optimization
  • Maintain investment MIS, interest calculations, and fund utilization planning

Payroll Management

  • Manage end-to-end payroll process including data collection, validation, and processing (ADP/ESS)
  • Reconcile payroll with accounting and bank payments to ensure accuracy
  • Ensure timely salary disbursement and statutory payroll compliance
  • Record payroll entries accurately in books

Audit & Assurance

  • Support statutory, transfer pricing, and group audits
  • Ensure timely closure of audit queries and minimal audit observations
  • Provide required documentation and data to auditors within timelines
  • Ensure payroll, tax, and accounting records are audit-compliant

Fixed Assets & Documentation

  • Review Fixed Asset Register (FAR), depreciation, tagging, and periodic verification
  • Ensure proper documentation and record keeping for all financial transactions and vouchers

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Develop and update SOPs for finance processes (AP, AR, payroll, compliance, project finance)
  • Identify opportunities for automation and implement tools to improve efficiency
  • Standardize workflows with clear approval matrices and controls
  • Leverage Tally/system capabilities to reduce manual effort and errors

Team Management & Coordination

  • Supervise and review accounting work, including work related to overseas entities
  • Ensure adherence to SLAs and minimize escalations
  • Coordinate with consultants, auditors, banks, and internal stakeholders
  • Delegate tasks and monitor execution for efficiency and accuracy

Organizational Contribution & Culture

  • Support cross-functional initiatives and finance-related projects
  • Contribute to building a collaborative and high-performance finance team
  • Conduct training and knowledge sessions on finance processes and compliance updates
  • Support organizational activities with financial planning and oversight

Additional / Specialized Responsibilities

  • Support safe investment decisions and fund deployment strategies
  • Ensure alignment with global entity requirements and intercompany processes

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification is mandatory.
  • Additional certifications in taxation, financial planning, ERP systems, or data analytics will be an advantage.
  • 3-6 years of post-qualification experience in accounting functions, preferably in a consulting, healthcare, professional services, research or multinational.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing end-to-end accounting, financial reporting, statutory compliance, taxation, payroll accounting, and audit coordination.
  • Strong working knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards, Companies Act provisions, Direct and Indirect Tax regulations, and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience in GST compliance including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, input tax credit reconciliations, e-invoicing, reverse charge mechanism (RCM), GST assessments, notices, and refund processes.
  • Proficient in Tally ERP with hands-on experience in transaction accounting, general ledger management, cost centre accounting, project accounting, and financial reconciliations.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or similar ERP platforms will be an added advantage.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables, Power Query, lookup functions, financial modelling techniques, dashboard preparation, and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to identify risks, exceptions, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to data integrity.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
