Senior Lead / Lead Analyst – Credit Card Profitability Modeling
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical and technically strong Senior Lead / Lead Analyst with deep expertise in Credit Card Profitability Modeling and Banking Analytics. This role is primarily focused on designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining profitability models that provide actionable insights into the financial performance of credit card portfolios.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building customer-level and portfolio-level profitability models, strong proficiency in SQL and Python, and a deep understanding of credit card economics, revenue streams, cost structures, and portfolio performance metrics. The role requires close collaboration with Finance, Product, Risk, and Business stakeholders to drive data-driven decision-making and portfolio optimization.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end credit card profitability models.
- Build customer-level, account-level, and portfolio-level profitability frameworks to measure and forecast financial performance.
- Model and analyze key profitability components including:
- Interest Income
- Interchange Revenue
- Annual and Service Fees
- Rewards and Loyalty Costs
- Operational Expenses
- Credit Losses and Charge-offs
- Develop revenue attribution and cost allocation methodologies to accurately assess customer and portfolio profitability.
- Develop forecasting and scenario-analysis models to evaluate the impact of business strategies, pricing changes, and portfolio shifts.
- Perform driver-based profitability analysis to quantify revenue and margin impacts across customer and portfolio segments.
- Build scalable analytical solutions using SQL and Python for profitability calculations, analysis, and reporting.
- Conduct model validation, sensitivity analysis, and performance monitoring to ensure model accuracy and stability.
- Partner with Finance, Product, Risk, and Strategy teams to translate business requirements into analytical and modeling solutions.
- Analyze portfolio trends including spend behavior, revolving balances, utilization, delinquency, and overall profitability.
- Present model outputs, methodologies, assumptions, and business recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior analysts on profitability modeling methodologies and best practices.

- Strong understanding of credit card revenue streams, portfolio economics, and profitability drivers.
- Advanced SQL and Python expertise for model development, data analysis, and profitability calculations.
- Experience developing customer-level and portfolio-level profitability frameworks.
- Experience working with US credit card portfolios and banking clients preferred.
- Ability to independently lead complex profitability modeling initiatives from problem definition through implementation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex modeling concepts and business impacts to stakeholders.
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
