Associate Content Writer – Fundraising and Donor Management

ContextSri (name changed for confidentiality reasons), who lives with her family in a village in Maharashtra, was unable to lift her left hand and had limited communication at 11 months of age. At the local hospital, she was given calcium tablets. Her mother was concerned about her developmental progress, but the rest of the family felt that massaging would be sufficient to help her recover. There are over 50 million children with or at risk of disabilities in India, and support/ services for them are largely non-existent. Conditions such as autism, learning disabilities, cerebral palsy, and language delays are understood by a small minority of our population – this includes professionals such as doctors, therapists, and teachers. Thus, children like Sri fall through the cracks all the time because the healthcare system does not diagnose them in time. In Sri's case, where doctors failed, a Community Health Worker (CHW) trained by Ummeed identified that Sri had developmental delays in motor and communication domains. The CHW educated the family on how to support Sri's development and also referred them to the local District Early Intervention Center (DEIC) for specialized guidance. Sri's family became her strength as they prioritized her needs to support her development. Sri now walks independently and enjoys playing ball with her family, who are now looking forward to her going to school with other children her age. About Ummeed (www.ummeed.org) Over the last 24 years, Ummeed has provided direct services to 15,000+ children and families, trained over 8500 unique professionals (community workers, as well as doctors, therapists, and teachers) across India, and indirectly influenced the lives of over 0.45 million children and families with or at risk of developmental disabilities. Besides direct clinical services, and training and capacity building, Ummeed's two other verticals of work have included research (to generate evidence of our work) and awareness building (to sensitize people to the cause and shift attitudes). About the Position Ummeed's expansion over the last few years have been supported by Fund Raising and Donor Management (FRDM) team. As Ummeed continue to grow, the organization is looking to expand skills within the Fundraising and Donor Management team. The Associate will prepare content needed for robust fundraising and donor relationship management (e.g., proposals / grants, donor reports, etc.) and support the coordination and logistics of this function. Proposal writing is critical to the Fund-Raising process and a person who is able to articulate the nuances of the various programs plays an important part in the process. In addition, it is important be able to provide timely updates to both donors and peers on various stages of the donor relationship management process. Reporting intoHead of Fundraising and Donor Management Roles and Responsibilities· Develop a strong understanding of Ummeed's work and programs to effectively articulate them in donor proposals and reports.· Draft compelling donor proposals using storytelling, data, and visual elements (e.g. images, charts, infographics), based on information gathered from stakeholders· Prepare meaningful interim and final donor reports, finalizing them post internal reviews.· Liaise with internal program teams to gather critical insights, updates, and data related to activities, outputs, outcomes, and impact.· Maintain and streamline internal processes such as reporting, tracking proposal progress, and tracking stage of discussions, to ensure timely submissions and better coordination.· Proactively plan and estimate timelines in the writing process including information gathering, reviewing etc. · Support reflection processes and incorporate learnings from previous reports/proposals into future communication cycles.· Coordinate with the fundraising and donor management team to support donor visits, events, and other related activities.· Responsible for maintaining the content management structure of proposals, reports, documents within the existing framework· Maintain and update CRM will activities pertaining to pipeline management and donor reporting Minimum Qualifications, Skills required Bachelor's / Master's degree in marketing and sales, communications, business analytics, or other relevant degree or work experience. 6 months -2 years of work experience in content / proposal writing and grant pipeline management. Experience in the not-for-profit sector is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Willingness to explore and use emerging technologies and AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gamma AI, Napkin AI) for content generation (preferred, not mandatory). Basic understanding of Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) frameworks or business analytics to help translate program outputs and outcomes into donor-friendly impact narratives. Ability to design visually engaging pitch decks and fundraising materials using tools like MS PowerPoint and Canva. Experience and/or organization skills to set up and streamline internal processes. Familiarity with digital communication tools (e.g., Mailchimp) for donor outreach and engagement. Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Zoho, Salesforce) to manage donor data and track interactions (preferred). WHY UMMEED?
