**Role:**Designer - Engine Design
Function:: PDD
Reporting into: Section Head
Level: M2
Purpose of the Role
Design new and improve existing products WITH THE OBJECTIVE OF enhancing the reliability and durability of products WITHIN THE LIMITS OF design processes, timelines, project budgets, and ETB policies.

Education
Diploma in automobile / mechanical/ Advanced diploma in tool and die making
Experience
Relevant Experience of 0 to 5 years in automobile industry
Business Understanding
- Understanding of the automobile
- Manufacturing processes and automation industry
Area of Responsibility
Product Concept
Study the competitor vehicle; Collect information on the vehicle; Prepare benchmarking report based on the prerequisite requirement for class 3 projects; Share with supervisor for review; Share with PDD post supervisor review; Study existing vehicles (Cabin, Drive Line, Engine Design) for feature specifications; Provide design and development inputs to PDD team for new and existing features; Prepare the concept design on CAD, & Prepare concept document for review of supervisor. Prepare benchmarking reports for similar design parts which include details like material used, grade, design intent, etc.
Design & Reliability Roll up
Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) for system and parts; Find out possible failure mode of the system and parts; Define the severity of failure; Prepare the DFMEA document; Share with supervisor for review; Modify with supervisors' suggestions and inputs; Conduct virtual integration of given aggregate with other aggregates; Prepare CAD design for new/existing parts or systems, as per design concept gate. Prepare aggregate level virtual assembly; Prepare the checklist for the Vehicle Integration (VI); Resolve the NCR of VI; Share inputs with FEA team; Modify design based on FEA feedback; Conduct virtual DFA/DFS/DFM; Modify design based on virtual DFA/DFS/DFM feedback & RTS. Prepare and sign off the VI sign off document; Seek supervisors sign off on the same; Make the drawings for the design; Share with supervisor for review; Release the Proto request. In order to achieve a reliable and durable design for products.
Verification Stage
Coordinate and support the manufacturing team for prototyping of aggregate online; Coordinate with manufacturing and service team for DFA/DFS; Modify design and drawing based of DFA/DFS and prototyping NCRs; Release CAD data structure and drawing in IDM and VMS for development and piloting; Share with supervisor for review; Modify with inputs and feedback received; Check the preparation of part list and EBOM online; Conduct DFMEA review; Release the Change Order(CO). In order to achieve the first time right design and zero design NCR in prototyping.
Durability Stage
Discuss with VDC team for testing of design on test rig; Provide inputs to the testing team for bench test; Analyze the failure report of product in the durability test, when required; Analyze the results and identify reasons for failure; Prepare root cause analysis report for failure; Prepare action plan; Modify the design on the basis of failure and validation feedback; Release the ECO for the piloting. In order to achieve zero design NCRs in prototyping and validation.
Build, SOP & Customer Satisfaction
Support for C & B vehicle builds online. Release CA-based online NCR's; Support for QAG, QRMS issues. In order to achieve SOP of the product.
