Job Description

Role: Designer - Transmission

**Function:**Technology

**Reporting into:**Section Head Transmission

Level:  M2

Purpose of the Role

'This position exists for the following Design release of transmission components like housing, gear & shafts. 3D (Dimensional) assembly & 2D (Dimensional) drawing preparation. DFA/DFM/DFM (design for Assembly, Design for After Market, Design for Manufacturing) for transmission parts. BOM (Bill of Material) control within the limits of Business Planning.

Education

Diploma in Mechanical / Automotive Engg.

Experience

Relevant experience of 0 - 5 Years

Business Understanding

  • Automobile industry
  • Commercial vehicles - Driveline & Transmission

Area of Responsibility

CAD (Computer-Aided Design) Modelling & drawing

In Order to execute drawing release of transmission parts and aggregates which results in first time right design. CAD modeling & drawing for transmission aggregates like gearbox housing, gears & shafts, etc. 3D (Dimension) & 2D (Dimension) Installation drawing preparation. CAD data updation as per VI requirements. CAD data finalization as per CAE feedback,  BOM (Bill of Material) control, GD&T(Geometric Design and Tolerancing) and tolerance stack up.

ECO release & implementation

In order to release the designs for ease of assembly and servicing VDFA (Virtual Design for Assembly) / VDFaM (Virtual design for aftermarket) for easy assembly and servicing. RTS (Review of Technical specification) & DFM (Design for Manufacturing) for manufacturability of parts. DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) of components and complete system.

Proto assembly & Validation support

In order to Ensure proto assembly of each design release, Finalization of AOS, Validation support for new and modified design, Design modification as per the proto assembly. This results in validation feedback sharing until it meets the required specifications.

Failure analysis and corrective action

  • Understanding failure mode
  • Simulation for establishing failure mode
  • Heat treatment parameter evaluation and result interpretation
