Fleet Accountant

Description
• To maintain an up-to-date general ledger for Fleet of Vessels (7-8 vessels)
• To prepare and review vessel financial data and ensure it is properly authorised and coded by the relevant departments
• Preparation of all funding requests that always ensures sufficient funding of the vessel to enable all commitments to be settled as per timelines
• Payment of purchase invoices, payroll and other creditors within the agreed payment terms and in line with V.Group policy
• Ensure all reports and requests are prepared for the client within the prescribed timetable
• Liaising with Vessel Financial Controller and other departments in order to provide explanation for Budget variances
• Supporting the Vessel Financial Controller with any other duties that may be necessary
• Full Time Graduation in Commerce
• 2-3 years of prior work experience in Accounting processes will be an added advantage
• Good Knowledge of MS office specially Excel Skills
• Excellent accounting knowledge.
• Good English communications skills written and verbal.
• Good interpersonal /business skills
• Ability to work on own initiative in a Team environment
• Good organizational & time management skills
• Analytical approach / good problem solving skills
• Good reporting skills
• Competent in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel skills (vlookup, pivot table etc.)
• Dependability, enthusiasm, excellent spoken & written communication, teamwork, high work output, accurate and methodical in approach to work, ability to work to tight deadlines, good organisational skills.
• Ideally, the person would either hold an HND in accounting, an accounting degree, or be at the very early stages of a recognised professional accounting qualification.
• Previous experience is not essential although this would be advantageous
