Software QA Engineer

About the Role:

As a Software QA Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products before they reach our customers. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans and cases that cover functional, regression, performance, and security testing. Your work will directly impact the user experience by identifying defects early in the development cycle and collaborating closely with developers to resolve issues efficiently. You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of our testing processes and automation frameworks to increase test coverage and reduce manual effort. Ultimately, your efforts will help deliver robust, high-quality software that meets or exceeds customer expectations and business requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proven experience in software quality assurance, including manual and automated testing.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and software testing methodologies.
• Experience with test management and bug tracking tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or equivalent.
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript) for test automation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Appium.
• Familiarity with performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.
• Knowledge of continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
• Certifications related to software testing such as ISTQB or CSTE.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on product requirements and technical specifications.
• Perform manual and automated testing to identify software defects and ensure product functionality aligns with design specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and business analysts to understand features and provide timely feedback.
• Analyze test results, document defects clearly, and track issues through resolution using bug tracking tools.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of automated testing frameworks and continuous integration pipelines to improve testing efficiency.
• Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to align testing activities with development cycles and project goals.
• Stay current with industry best practices, emerging testing tools, and technologies to continuously enhance testing strategies.

Skills:

The required skills enable the QA Engineer to design and execute effective test cases that ensure software quality and reliability. Proficiency in programming languages supports the development and maintenance of automated test scripts, reducing manual testing effort and increasing test coverage. Familiarity with test management and bug tracking tools facilitates clear communication and efficient defect resolution within cross-functional teams.
